Health Clinics

A health clinic is a medical facility that diagnoses and treats out-patients. Health clinics are staffed by medical professionals that have a specialty that rests in a certain area of medical practice. Therefore, generally speaking, health clinics offer medical care in a wide array of medical tracts. Some health clinics will even offer a counseling service to the patients. If a health clinic does not have a medical professional practicing in one area or another, every health clinic is certainly willing to make recommendations as to where you can receive that particular care. A health clinic used to be a place that treated those that were just carried to a medical facility by ambulance. Health clinics have changed in scope today. A health clinic is currently a place in which accepts walk ins, and even appointments for those that are seeking a wide range of out-patient care.

There is more history that involves health clinics that happen in between those two major transitions that have come to make health clinics what they are today. During the 1600s, a health clinic was a place that could be visited to serve those that were of low income. Some of the first health clinics at this time, were built in London. At that time, health clinics exclusively serviced those that met that criteria. There was still a cost that was often associated with the service. Those that were eligible to visit a health clinic such as this, had to pay a portion of their prescriptions. Other than that, most services at the health clinic were completely free of charge.

In the late 1700s, health clinics began to be established more abundantly n the United States, in the North settlements. The typical health clinic did not have a place for patients to come and visit. Instead, those that offered a medical service for a health clinic would have to come out to the individual’s home. As health became a more noted concern throughout society, many of the health clinics began to open facilities where they could offer visiting health care. Some of the first health clinics began to treat the medical issues that were heightened at the time, such as diseases like tuberculosis and cancer. Eventually, the health clinic would offer a more broad approach to health care treatment.
