Another one of the health services that is a part of the Public Health Service Operating Division is the Food and Drug Administration. This is another one of the health services that affects the nation in a major way. It is responsible for monitoring the safety of food, pharmaceutical drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, and biological products.

Health services also has a large division called the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that works to improve the state of substance abuse prevention and treatment. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration also assists with mental health patients all over the country. This Administration has been put in place in order to monitor the prevalence, as well as the treatment methods for those that are mentally ill. The other divisions include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, the Indian Health Service, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research.
